Summer Spraying with Argan

I’m a bit partial to spa skincare. No where is more apt to find truly efficacious products that are used daily by experienced aestheticians who are in the know. The average consumer may not be aware of the stringent processes and regimented testing by high level spa directors and aestheticians it takes to get a skincare line into a spa, but I’ll say this -  luxury spas are far more on top of the hot topics and emerging trends in skincare that that target the unique requirements of virtually every type of skin. And, I know this from my 8 fun years of beauty writing and spa testing galore.

Specialty lines aren’t chosen for pretty packaging or for their glitzy marketing. It’s particularly interesting to me how beauty lines (like emerginC Scientific Organics) are carefully chosen for their proven ability to target correction, prevention and repair and to provide a comprehensive, multifaceted, age reversing skin response. For me, if the impeccable Aqua Star Spa at famed Beverly Hilton trusts in a proven skincare line, I should too.

The simple Coconut Argan Body Oil ($54) can be found at this restful sanctuary that serves as the epicenter of Hollywood’s spa scene where the city’s elite make the short jaunt for the best of the best in world class skincare and more. I’m willing to bet there’s a slew of celebs that use this oil, but that really doesn’t matter to us, does it?

The semi-citrusy scented oil is the perfect choice for after sun use. It’s got a myriad of oils to treat up your skin – Sunflower, Coconut, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Olive Fruit Safflower, Grapeseed and the widely loved Argan. Phew.  No need to worry about getting your antioxidants and vitamins through this roster of rich, nurturing carriers.

But, what sets this treatment apart from most dry oils is the added Retinyl Palmitate, which is a precursor to the much-loved Retinol. Retinyl Palmitate is considered a less irritating form of Retinol, and a gentler ingredient on sensitive skin. It’s a gentle exfoliator, which has the ability to infiltrate into the outer layers of the skin to reveal fresh new skin. That makes this oil a win on all counts.

Wholly organic, the sweet scented oil (from hints of Bergamot and Orange Peel essential oils) is distinctive in its making. You’d think a scientific brand would have the usual chemical fluff that sets off the red flags, but not here. No parabens, artificial or fragrances and no animal testing. The ultralight oil sinks in quick and isn’t marked by any overbearing essences.

Science and oils? Yes, this should prove irresistible to organic and huile fans alike.
