Quiet. Muted. Sheer.
It’s hard to find a body oil that is so lightly scented, that you could almost say it’s non-scented. This one is for those of you seeking a near non-scented dry oil for use on your legs or elsewhere. I say ‘near’ because usually most body oils come in a scented or non-scented variety. And, while I have found most readers who have stumbled upon this little corner of the beauty blogosphere prefer a perfumey type of cumulus cloud from smartly blended essences atop skin (much like yours truly), a handful of you want the quiet slather of a freewheeling oil without any assertive scent overlaying skin.
Perhaps, you just want to add oil to boost your lotion’s work? Maybe you want nothing to interfere with your scent of the day? Or, just maybe…you still haven’t found that perfectly defined aesthetic range of scented oils you can reach for yet still want the moisture from one. Whatever your fancy, Face Stockholm’s Apricot Orchid Dry Body Oil ($35) may just be the thing you need.
I’ve been recently obsessing over Face Stockholm’s glosses (#14 looks so right for me); the brand represents something of a classic luxury with its minimalist packaging and sleek prowess of products hand selected from around the world. But the oil? It’s somewhat of a conundrum. A good one, at least.
The nimble mist actually smells great and is so much fun to play with! But, before reading further, you should know that the delicate scent – whispery accents of Geranium, Clary, Rosemary, Chamomile, Cabbage Rose, and Orchid extracts – is so, so soft that you’ll actually only catch its fleeting whiffs upon the few sprays. None thereafter, really.
What’s important to appreciate is that this is one of those rare paraben/preservative free body oils that brings a highly refined Squalane to instantly hydrate. Among Squalane’s merits: it’s all natural lubricant and skin barrier that helps protect the skin and prevent moisture loss. It also has a high penetration efficiency that makes it an excellent transport system that helps the skin absorb other vitamin heavy ingredients, namely Peach Kernel and Apricot counterparts.
Ideal for sensitive skins, which might not want either a syrupy sweet floral or heady herbaceous oil, this blend is ideal for getting that soft, shiny, “touchable” skin on the arms and legs when a scent might not be warranted. I even used a spritz over the halo of flyaways on my ponytail and saw hair stayed flat without any added grease. The pump is always a plus, too.
Need to de-flake skin? This gentle scrub is the perfect prelude to the oil, too.
