RMS Beauty Lip & Skin Balm

Less face it – shopping for a balm can be a bitch. Some are too creamy; others are too hard to smooth on. Some are greasy and refuse to stay put; others are just a glob of petrolatum - inert, useless, and devoid of any vitamins antioxidants, or plain ole good stuff to treat skin, not just sit atop your puckers obnoxiously without merit. After Allure celebrated the addictive RMS Beauty Lip & Skin Balm ($25) by awarding it the “Best of Beauty” fame, it’s about time you grab yourself a mini tub of this wonder balm.

Choose between a Vanilla or Cocoa tinged formulation (scents are both true & quite gourmand), which has Coconut Oil at the core of the treatment. Modern medical science is now confirming the use of Coconut in treating many chapped, cracked, and weathered skin conditions. Published studies in medical journals show that Coconut (in one form or another) may provide a wide range of health benefits, such as:
  • Reduces symptoms associated the psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis
  • Supports the natural chemical balance of the skin
  • Softens skin and helps relieve dryness and flaking
  • Prevents wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots
  • Promotes healthy looking hair and complexion
  • Provides protection from damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation from the sun
  • Has no harmful or discomforting side effects
  • Is completely non-toxic to humans
From this list, it’s no wonder it’s an all-purpose balm to be used just about anywhere a flaky patch of skin pops up. Rose-Marie Swift, creator of the purely organic brand, says to,

“Massage this special balm over any part of the skin, particularly the lips, underneath the eyes, and any laugh lines where it will visibly hydrate ad soften fine lines. It can also be used around the eye at night.”

An ultra-creamy Beeswax, dollops of Shea & Cocoa Seed Butters are weaved through layers of Jojoba, Argan, Sunflower Oils to form a lovely thick, rich texture with just enough ‘slip’ to be able to work it into skin. It’s thick enough to soothe even the most chapped lips or elbows, but it also works wonders when using a thin layer as an overnight treatment mask to give skin a velvety soft feel in the morning. Rosemary extracts are also blended in the balm to protect the different components of the skin cells and minimize the effects of environmental aging on the skin. All in all, it’s an outstanding balm (with wisps of Vanilla is enough to lure you in) that feels luxurious even when used on knobby knees or dry spots around.

It’s a winter-must, that takes the boringness out of balm shopping.
